Conference Organisers
ICF-16 is organised by a set of excellent organisations.
International Congress on Fracture (ICF) is the premier global society in the allied fields of fracture mechanics, fatigue, structure integrity and damage tolerance. At the inaugural International Conference on Fracture (ICF-1), about 500 participants from 19 countries established an international body for promoting worldwide cooperation among scientists and engineers known as the International Congress on Fracture (ICF). The aim of the ICF is “to foster research in the mechanics and phenomena of fracture, fatigue, and strength of materials.” The ICF, since its founding in 1965, has organised the International Congress on Fracture in 12 countries across 4 continents.

Australian Fracture Group
The Australian Fracture Group has a long and proud history of promoting fracture dating back to the 1970’s. The Australian Fracture Group successfully hosted ICF-9, which was located held in Sydney in 1997. In addition, the Australian Fracture Group has a strong track record in hosting national and international conferences, including the International Conference on Structural Integrity and Failure (SIF), International Fatigue Congress (FATIGUE 2014) and the International Conference of Composite Materials (ICCM 2019).
The National Committee on Applied Mechanics (NCAM), within the Mechanical College Board of Engineers Australia, is dedicated to advancing the science and practice of applied mechanics. It promotes the field through conferences, knowledge sharing, and professional development. Engineers Australia, founded in 1919, is the peak accrediting body and society for engineers in Australia, representing more than 140,000 members across all disciplines. Engineers Australia is the recognised body for accrediting professional engineering qualifications in Australia under international agreements. Engineers Australia has a dedicated events team with a strong record for delivering high quality international events and conferences. Additionally, Engineers Australia has a strong relationship with industry sponsors and exhibitors.
Originally established in 1887 as the Working Men’s College, RMIT was founded with the aim to provide educational opportunities to the working class of Melbourne. Even now, RMIT stays true to its roots by striving to create innovative teaching, learning and research programs that enable students to receive the knowledge, information and skills they require to meet and solve modern challenges.
